Blogger Is Soooo Last Season

by Jen on June 14, 2011

Hello! Jen here! I’ve moved! But, unless you are a fellow blogger, you probably don’t even notice. I made the decision to move from Blogger to WordPress because the peer pressure was too intense Blogger errors I’d recently been experiencing were giving me heart palpi’s, and I feared losing my beloved Jen Has A Pen forever. Word on the skreet is that WordPress is fun, and accessible, and loyal, and kind, and dependable – all of the things that make me love my George… and Oprah.

So, I took the plunge… with the help of JP, who was recommended to me by Katie, who was recommended to me by Nichole, who has been one of my long time favoritos! It has now become like 6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon, but more like 3 Degrees of Kevin Bacon, and if I’m really being honest, Kevin Bacon has absolutely nothing to do with my blog. He might be affiliated with WordPress, though. Hard to tell.

So, you know when you move into a new place and the movers finally bring in all your crap, and you are standing in the kitchen surrounded by the overwhelming amount of boxes and tubs and cleaning supplies, and you have zero idea what the hell to do next? That’s sort of where I’m at right now. Just hanging out in my kitchen, wondering if I’ll ever be able to navigate my way through all this crap. Seems overwhelming today, but by tomorrow, I’m pretty sure I’ll be ready to put up window treatments.

No matter, I’m so very VERY very happy to be back! ¬†And on WordPress…. I think.

Congrats!!! Welcome to your new home. It's awesome how seamless the change was. Well, at least on this end. I know you had some heartburn over it.

I had a little anxiety about turning everything over to someone I'd never met, but I felt comfort in Katie's recommendation. JP was freakishly awesome to work with. Normally I find technical people to kind of work at their own pace, but he was on the ball!

Thanks! :-) So annoying that now that I'm finally up and running I've been so busy at work that I haven't been able to comment back to people or write any posts! Such is life, I suppose. ;-)

Thanks! Truly, we ARE like neighbors!

Oh, and Alisha's son Jayden, who came to Liam's party will be having a birthday party sometime late this month or early next month. I will probably send you an invite. :-) He's new to town and needs buddies.

I will let you know! So far, so good. Looks like I have one more tiny kink to work out with the commenting, but otherwise, the transition was smooth sailing.

Welcome lovie! Blogger has been peeving me off also. But I just muddled through a redesign and had to ask my much younger, hipper cousin for her help. I may ask your buddy for help if he is on the ball like that!

When I did my redesign, I loved the work but her time table was a tiny bit different than mine. Creative types always work at their own pace, you know. But JP was ON IT. I was in technology love with him.

There is so much more customization with wordpress. Give it time. And soon it will feel like a warm blanket. A warm blanket that smells like a summer breeze…..um ok tangent over. May i suggest using the comment Luv plugin. Its a great way to build a community on your blog.

Good for you! I hope your transition is smooth! Mine is still working out a few comment kinks, but for the most part, everything was awesome! Good luck!
