I was a journalism major in college. I was a dedicated contributor to my high school yearbook. I wrote a story or two for my junior college magazine, and a couple pieces for the newspaper. I did reporting and anchor work for our pathetic (but full of promise) campus news program and spent countless hours in the journalism building dreaming of one day becoming Joan Lunden. So, would you find it odd to know that until a week ago, I’d never touched a DSLR (or SLR for that matter) camera? Journalism students go hand in hand with photography students, so I was very familiar with other people taking photos for the stories I was writing. And while I was always intrigued to pick one up and just give ‘er a shot – I was too intimidated.
But now… now I have Doreen. And I can no longer be intimidated. I need to learn her like a foreign exchange student. Make her feel comfortable in my hands. Help her help me process beautiful images that will bring new life to www.jenhasapen.com! (Did you notice I changed my blog name, by the way? Big, BIG, HUUUUGE day in the Bruno house.)
Poor George has been booted. The Brulliotts would never had existed without him. For one, his last name had intercourse with my last name and made beautiful music. And secondly, this entire blog was started to document our engagement and wedding planning. So when I purchased my new domain name, he shed eight tears and laid on a thick as paste guilt trip about how unfair I was being. I have been asking him to write a guest post since the birth of www.thebrulliotts.blogspot.com, so I blamed the name change on his lack of participation. To date, I have written 250 blog posts. How many has George Bruno written??? Ummm none. I would like to promise that someday I will get him to guest blog for me. He’s an amazing writer and it would be such a treat for you, I swear. Sometimes I feel like scanning the cards he writes for me because they are phenomenal.
Anyway, what do you think of the new name? Thanks to my parents for giving me a name that rhymes with “pen”, but maybe it would have been even cooler to be named Jennigog? Rhyming with “blog” would have been outstanding.

George is scheduled to meet with a grief counselor early next week. Until then, he's nursing his wounds and trying to cope.
